Rangers have won all of their last three games in the Scottish Premiership under the tutelage of caretaker manager, Graeme Murty, with their last fixture ending in a 2-1 win against Rood County. The Gers are now placed at the 2nd spot in the league table with 33 points to their name after 17 games.
On Wednesday, they are going to face Hibernian at the Easter Road Stadium which promises to be a crunchy league fixture. While Lee Wallace and Graham Dorrans set to miss the upcoming outing, Ryan Jack’s silly tackle at Aberdeen means that he is still suspended for the clash against the Hibs.
Here is how we expect Murty to dish out his starting line-up against Neil Lennon’s men.
Defence
The central defence is expected to be filled by two quality defenders in the shapes of Bruno Alves and Danny Wilson. Alves has indeed proved to be a stupendous addition for the club after coming to the Ibrox Stadium in the summer, as he has been a leader at the back and has helped the other defenders time and again. Wilson is in a decent touch and has been solid.
Wes Foderingham should manage to keep his position between the sticks with the gloves for the Light Blues. At the left-back position, Declan John is expected to be placed whereas at the right-back slot, James Tavernier’s contributions, both offensively and defensively, has come of great help for Rangers and he should rightfully be keeping his position in the starting line-up.
Midfield
Ross McCrorie showed his versatility by plying his trade as a defensive midfielder, despite predominantly being a central defender and is anticipated to start once again. Josh Windass should start from the left side of central midfield and from the other side, we expect Daniel Candeias to keep this heated up.
Candeias, with his relentless toil and creativity, would be an astute choice for feeding quality balls to his teammates in the final third. Murty is seemingly likely to go with Carlos Pena as his central attacking midfielder as the manner he breaks the defence of the opposition apart is delightful to watch.
Attack
Alfredo Morelos, after coming off the bench and scoring a goal against Ross County, would be itching to start and unleash himself up front and he is expected to be stationed alongside veteran attacker, Kenny Miller. With young blood and pace of Morelos, Miller’s industry and experience should give the Teddy Bears the necessary ingredients to excel offensively.
