Liverpool will entertain West Bromwich Albion at Anfield after failing to secure the three points in their derby match versus Everton on Sunday. The Reds fell victim to a controversial penalty decision which ultimately cost them the two points against their nearest neighbours. Jurgen Klopp’s men will now look to bounce back and secure maximum points against Alan Pardew’s West Brom.
The Baggies suffered a narrow defeat away at Swansea City and are in dire need of some momentum following their recent slump down the Premier League. They currently lie 17th in the league standings with just goal difference separating them from West Ham United who are in the relegation zone.
Alan Pardew’s men will have an uphill task on Wednesday night as they look to stop a wounded Liverpool team who will be hungry for goals. The recent history of this fixture doesn’t make good reading for the fans of the West Midlands club. West Brom has not won in their last eight meetings with Liverpool and their last victory came way back in 2013.
Jurgen Klopp will be expected to bring back some of his stars who were rested against Everton. The likes of Phillipe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are all set to be recalled into the Reds line-up for this game against the Baggies.
4-3-3 Predicted Liverpool Lineup To Face West Bromwich Albion
Defence
Simon Mignolet will once again start in goal for the Reds and may be protected by a back-four comprised of Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back, Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan at the heart of the defence and Andrew Robertson continuing on the left-hand side of the backline.
Lovren was at fault for giving away a soft penalty against the Toffees in his last outing and will now look to redeem himself by putting in a strong performance versus the Baggies. A clean sheet can go a long way to give this struggling Liverpool defence some confidence boost going into the busy Christmas period.
Midfield
Liverpool might feature the likes of Emre Can, skipper Jordan Henderson and Phillipe Coutinho at the centre of the park. Can should come back after being rested against Everton while Coutinho will be looking to build on his hat-trick against Spartak Moskva during his last start for the Reds.
Attack
Mohamed Salah is expected to take up his usual position on the right-side of the front three and so will Sadio Mane on the left flank. Roberto Firmino will lead the lines and link up play after being in a rich vein of form for Liverpool in his last few matches. The trio has scored plenty of goals in between them this season and another startling display against the Baggies at Anfield might be on the cards.
