Premier League clubs, Manchester City and Liverpool are currently keeping tabs on OGC Nice midfielder, Jean-Micheal Seri with a possibility of a transfer in January. The 26-year-old has been the centre of heavy speculation in the summer with Barcelona and Arsenal interested in signing him.
The Spanish giants were heavily invested in Seri and had placed a bid of £35.2million. It was reported that Nice president, Jean-Pierre Rivere has rejected the offer, which did not sit well with Seri. After the collapse of the Barcelona transfer, Arsenal also backed out from placing a bid of their own. With his contract set to run until June 2019, Seri is supposedly ready for a move away from OGC Nice.
The Ivorian arrived at OGC Nice in the summer of 2015 and has appeared in 97 matches ever since netting the ball 11 times and collecting 18 assists. He has been a key figure in the midfield for the Ligue 1 with his distribution and defensive ability around the centre circle.
Manchester City are still hot on the heels of Arsenal star, Alexis Sanchez looking to add more strength to their squad in the January transfer window. Pep Guardiola has so far only had the option of Fernandinho and İlkay Gündoğan in the defensive midfield position. Still unimpressed with Ivorian veteran, Yaya Toure the Spaniard will require more options in the position and Seri might be a perfect fit for the side.
They are currently flying high with 8 points clear at the top of the points table and a first-place finish in the Champions League group stage. With multiple trophy contentions, Guardiola is still not convinced over the strength of his side and is actively seeking out possible changes he can make in January.
Reports have also emerged over the possibility of a Liverpool exit for German midfielder, Emre Can. If the 23-year-old does leave, Jurgen Klopp will require quality replacements to fill that position. But the Reds already have seen their £55 million get accepted by RB Leipzig for the services of Guinea international, Naby Keita. He is set to arrive in January and pair up with Henderson in the central midfield position.
With the defensive concerns of the team, Klopp might still opt for the services of Seri although regular game time might not be guaranteed.
The Ivorian with 16 caps for the national team has also attracted interest from French giants, Paris Saint-Germain. He even expressed his interest in playing for the side alongside Marco Veratti.
