Leeds United are back in the contention for a playoff berth following their brilliant 3-1 win over QPR in the Championship. At one time it seemed they were pegged back in the promotional race but some brilliant upturn in the form helped them massively as Thomas Christiansen’s side are now in seventh place, well in the reach for a place in the Championship playoffs.
Leeds were quite active in the summer as the gaffer made some very bargain and useful picks in the summer and would love to recollect it in January. Leeds are reportedly chasing the packs for Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons.
Aarons hasn’t really settled for life at the St James Park since his arrival from Bristol City in 2012 and there hasn’t been much change in this season too as he has struggled for game time on the pitch.
Leeds have a very energetic and enthusiastic attacking contingent with the likes of Samu Saiz, Pablo Hernandez and Ezgjan Alioski have proved to be a constant thorn in at opposite attacking third.
But Christiansen would love to add some more firepower to the side especially on the flanks and Aarons could be a potential game-changer for them. The gaffer has used both Hernandez and Alioski on the wings but he needs to have more adequate options to deal with the potential threat.
Aarons has the pace and quality to add more potent to the threat that already has scored 33 goals in the second tier. Aarons is no more the preferred choice so Benitez might entertain a transfer plea. The manager knows he needs to sell first to arrange funds in January and this Aarons might be one of the casualties.
The winger clearly isn’t in Benitez’s plan and Leeds could do some steal in this inflated transfer market. The winger has shown the quality to thrive in the big stages and his ability to contribute defensively could come very handy in the English second tier.
Leeds like to play attacking football and Aarons could make an instant impact. With a long read to go, Leeds would need some shift in the momentum and they could definitely do it by bringing some fresh faces at the Elland Road.
Aarons is likely to command a fee, which would be well within the range of the Yorkshire giants and Christiansen should go all out for the youngster, as a number of other clubs are also preparing offers for the 22-year-old.
