Claude Puel has certainly stabilized things but he and his team needed to give a proper performance to change the tide. Goals from Riyad Mahrez, Demarai Gray and an own goal from Ayoze Perez sealed the deal as the foxes triumphed over the Magpies.

GK: Kasper Schmeichel – 7/10
Alert on the match day and he looked completely ready and he looked calm on the pitch. Made a smart save off a Murphy and did similar things to escape the wrath of time.
RB: Danny Simpson – 6/10
Tidy and average on the right but nothing worth mentioning.
CB: Wes Morgan – 7/10
Complimented Maguire solidly and made his presence felt throughout the game.
CB: Harry Maguire – 7/10
Looked in control and the way he controls the ball is admirable. He’s growing into a fine centreback.
LB: Ben Chillwell – 6/10
Energetic from the left but has to refine his game a little bit more.
CM: Wilfried Ndidi – 8/10
Competent from the midfield again and it was his pass that kept the ball ticking for Mahrez’s opener. He too has cemented his place nicely in the team.
CM: Vicente Iborra – 5.5/10
Not really involved in the last few terrific games he’s had but had his fair share of luck even today and made a few good passes.
LM: Marc Albrighton – 7/10
Work rate was terrific again and he was a consistent outlet for Leicester from the left. Could improve a little more on his end product but seems like he got the job done.
FW: Demarai Gray – 7.5/10
Had an early effort on goal trying to place it and it nearly worked. His linkup play was a thorn for Newcastle again and he looks to be a man on form scoring yet another goal.
RW: Riyad Mahrez – 8/10
Drifted in nicely time and again to hold the ball and move along at will. His powerful shot gave the Newcastle keeper no chance for the opener. Riyad is a fine player and his growth has been simply exceptional.
ST: Jamie Vardy – 6.5/10
Held the ball properly and his movements were fine but nothing special apart from that. It’s good to see that he make more efforts to get into the game.
