Since the win over Stoke City, Crystal Palace have been held to two consecutive draws but they looked to change that fortune when Bournemouth came to the Selhurst Park from the South Coast. An early goal from Defoe gave the hosts an early setback but two quickfire goals from Milivojevic and Scott Dann before halftime. However, the Eagles came back on level terms with Defoe equalising in the second half. Christian Benteke’s penalty miss, in the end, proved to be costly as Palace drew again.
Here’s how the Eagles have been rated after a heart-breaking ending to another match, which could have gone their way very easily:-
GK : Julian Speroni – 6/10
Smart saves to deny Defoe one more goal and another nice one from Ibe’s shot. He was well beaten for both the goals he conceded.
RB: Timothy Fosu-Mensah – 6/10
Tidy and disciplined on the right.
CB: James Tomkins – 6/10
A good tackle on Defoe was noticeable but nothing excellent on the night. Mediocre.
CB: Mamadou Sakho – 5/10
Suffered an injury and he had a quiet game before that which is very unlike him.
LB: Jeffrey Schlupp – 5/10
Actually guilty of giving away possession a lot of times by trying to do too much but he also had a decent effort going forward from the left.
CM: Luka Milivojevic – 6/10
Scored really well from the spot-kick and he did make his presence felt in the midfield. Decent but the result could have been totally different had he taken the last penalty.
CM: Yohan Cabaye – 7/10
He was involved a lot in the game today and brought a lot of quality and got an assist for Dann’s goal. Having Cabaye fit is crucial for Palace.
RW: Andros Townsend – 6.5/10
Troubled the opposition well at times and served as an intriguing outlet.
LW: Ruben Loftus Cheek – 5/10
A very average game today and he really should take chances like to impress when he gets them.
FW: Wilfried Zaha – 8/10
Again, he stood out amongst all the players and troubled Bournemouth extremely well. Won two penalties and provided palace with a major difference on several occasions to win the game.
FW: Christian Benteke – 3/10
Seriously looks like he’s lacking confidence and he missed a penalty terribly to deny three massive points for his team.
Substitutes:-
CB: Scott Dann – 7/10
Scored an important goal and he put in a solid shift at the back.
CB: James McArthur – 6/10
He was engaged in the midfield and did okay.
FW: Bakary Sako – N/A
Came on too late and can’t be judged.
