Everton is set to travel across Stanley Park to take on their rivals, Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday in what promises to be another exhilarating Merseyside derby. The Toffees have appointed Sam Allardyce as their new manager recently and has seen his team win three matches in a row and score 9 goals during that run since his appointment. However, Liverpool have been flying high as well under Jurgen Klopp which has seen them destroy Spartak Moskva 7-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Blues sit comfortably in 10th place in the Premier League table following their recent impressive run of two league home wins on the spin against West Ham United and Huddersfield Town respectively. Depending on other results, they can climb to 9th place if they can pull off a derby-day upset versus Liverpool on Sunday. The recent history of this fixture doesn’t paint a pretty picture for Evertonians. The Toffees have not won in their last 14 encounters against the Reds. Their last victory at Anfield came way back in 1999 when they secured a victory with a 1-0 scoreline.
Sam Allardyce is expected to field an unchanged line-up and continue with his 4-1-4-1 formation versus Jurgen Klopp’s men.
4-1-4-1 Predicted Everton Line-Up To Face Liverpool
Defence
Jordon Pickford will take his place in the Everton goal after his heroics against West Ham United where he expertly saved a penalty in a 4-0 win over the Hammers. He also kept a clean-sheet against Huddersfield Town in the last gameweek as well. The English goalkeeper will be protected by a back four comprising of Jonjoe Kenny and Cuco Martina as full-backs while Mason Holgate and Ashley Williams are set to start at the heart of the Toffees’ defence. The Everton backline has been excellent in recent matches and has kept three clean sheets in a row in all competitions.
Midfield
Idrissa Gueye will feature as a defensive midfielder and Tom Davies will line up alongside Wayne Rooney at the centre of the park. Rooney scored a hattrick against the Hammers and will look to continue his good form against the Reds at Anfield.
Aaron Lennon will start on the right flank while Gylfi Sigurðsson will look to cut in from the left.
Attack
The Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin will start up front and try to use his pace to exploit the Liverpool defence. The speedster has scored in his last Premier League match versus Huddersfield Town and has been a revelation this season.
