Brighton and Hove Albion will be facing Huddersfield Town at the Kirklees Stadium this weekend. Huddersfield are coming off a 4 game losing streak. Their tough consecutive fixtures against Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton have seen them fall to the 16th spot of the Premier League table.
David Wagner’s men will be motivated to put on an improved and resilient display at home against the Seagulls. A home win will help them climb a spot over Brighton who are 2 points ahead of them right now.
After successfully fighting their way out of the playoffs to earn themselves a promotion to top-flight English football, Huddersfield are still adjusting to life in the Premier League. However, they need to find the nooks and crannies of the leagues and make sure they do not get pulled into a relegation battle after a gruelling schedule in December.
Brighton are also coming into the match after a mentally draining 1-5 loss to Liverpool. They fell short to the attacking prowess of the Reds and could not capitalise on their own chances.
Wagner has been flexible with the formation of his team having mostly relied on the traditional back 4 system. He is expected to field the players in a 4-2-3-1 formation, providing a lot of freedom to the wing backs to surge ahead when needed.
4-2-3-1 Huddersfield Town Predicted Lineup Vs Brighton And Hove
Defense
The club’s first choice Danish goalkeeper, Jonas Lössl should get the nod to start having already featured in every game of the season so far.
Tommy Smith is expected to fill the right-back position with Scott Malone positioned on the left. Both the Englishmen have had major contributions with 20 appearances between them. Smith, however, is very close to facing suspension with 4 yellow cards already under his belt. He will have to tread lightly if he wants to be available for selection for the next fixture against Chelsea.
Two of the center back positions might be taken up by Mathias Jørgensen, commonly known as Zanka and Christopher Schindler. The pair does well to promote the club’s high pressing style of play from the back through early interceptions and well-timed offside traps. But they also often fall prey to high paced attacks as seen in their 5-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates.
Midfield
Wagner’s style of play emphasises on a tightly stacked midfield with a tendency to dominate possession. Aaron Mooy is their best man to lead the team around the center circle alongside Danny Williams. Jonathan Hogg might take up the attacking midfield above the defensive duo. The trio will look to rotate amongst themselves to distribute the ball up top while fulfilling their defensive duties.
Tom Ince will most likely take up the right wing position to cut inside when required. After his red card suspension against Manchester City in injury time, Rajiv van La Parra will look to return to the lineup for this match. He will feature from the left and look to add to his 1 goal tally.
Attack
Laurent Depoitre is expected to start ahead of Elias Kachunga, who is yet to find the back of the net for the Terriers. Club record signing, Steve Mounie might make a late appearance off the bench if the team fails to break the deadlock in the first half.
