Burnley are set to host Watford at the Turf Moor, on the 9th of December. Both clubs are competing strongly ahead of clubs like Leicester City, Everton and Southampton. Both clubs are performing way above expectations and might even earn themselves a European qualification spot if the top 6 keep dropping points consistently.
Watford are 3 points behind Sean Dyche’s side and will be looking for an away win to close in on the 7th spot.
Burnley are coming off a 1-0 away loss to Leicester City and are not looking to drop points to the Hornets just yet. They are on a good run with 3 wins in the last 5 games with almost getting the draw against Arsenal at home on 26 November. Alexis Sanchez slotted an injury-time winner to break the hearts of the Burnley fans.
Most managers in the Premier League have integrated the 3 back formation into their gameplay. Marco Silva might follow feat and utilise 3-4-1-2 formation against the Clarets. The following players can be expected to appear in the weekend fixture.
Defence:
Heurelho Gomes should start for the side in front of goal having appeared in every game in Premier League.
The 3 man backline will be held by Sebastian Prodl at the centre with Adrian Mariappa and Christian Kabasele alongside, with Miguel Britos nursing a muscle injury currently. The trio did well to defend the countless attacks from Tottenham last weekend to get their side a crucial point.
Midfield:
Kiko Femenía is expected to start in the right wing-back position. Abdoulaye Doucouré should take up the holding midfield position alongside former Evertonian, Tom Cleverly. They have combined well around the centre circle in the side’s current campaign. Doucouré has been instrumental for the Hornets, netting 5 goals already.
Marvin Zeeglelaar is also ready to feature down the left hand side of the pitch after his consecutive appearances in the last 4 games. The 27-year-old got the nod ahead in the 2-0 win against West Ham United. He has been impressive defensively ever since.
Attack:
Isaac Success is still out on injury even though he was expected to return by this weekend. Troy Deeney might pair up with Andre Gray up top with Richarlison behind them. The 20 year old Brazilian has been in sublime form with 5 goals and 3 assists. His pace and dribbling skills along with the dual strike force up top can help the side surge ahead early in the match. Roberto Pereyra can make a substitute appearance if the trio fail to deliver.
