After a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at the Elland Road, Leeds United are due to take on Queens Park Rangers at the Loftus Road Stadium on Saturday. The Whites have not been very convincing in their productivity of late and are currently placed at the 8 spot in the Championship table with 30 points to their name after 20 games.
The upcoming Championship fixture against Rangers, thus, holds paramount importance and here is how Thomas Christiansen is expected to place his starting line-up against Ian Holloway’s troops.
Defence
The competition for the place between the sticks between Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan is really exciting to witness and it is deriving the best out of the two goalkeepers. Against the Londoners, Wiedwald is expected to start after his good outing against Aston Villa last weekend.
At the heart of the defence of the Whites, we expect the duo of Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper to be stationed. While the former bagged a goal against the Villans, the latter has been decent of late and together, they have to stand tall once again in the upcoming fixture.
From the left-back slot, we should see Gaetano Berardi starting whereas, from the right-back position, the reliable servant in the shape of Luke Ayling should be one of the first names to find a place in the starting line-up of Christiansen owing to the industry he showcases.
Midfield
The central midfield is expected to be occupied by Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips, as these two have been partnering each other in an appealing manner. They might have started the season in an unconvincing manner, but have been showing their credentials in their last few games.
SamuSaiz is likely to start once again as the no. 10 for the Yorkshire based club, for he has proved to be a stupendous addition in the summer and his form would have a huge say in the whereabouts of Leeds United this season.
Attack
The manager is short of quality options up front, and against QPR, he might use Caleb Ekuban to lead the line. The striker was used against Steve Bruce’s side, and he certainly has to do a lot more to nail his position.
On his right, Ezgjan Alioski is expected to be seen whereas, from the left-wing position, Pablo Hernandez should keep his position and both these wingers need to add pace and creativity from the flanks to support Ekuban.
