A 1-1 result was not what Mauricio Pochettino had in mind when his side began the match against a lowly West Bromwich Albion who came into the match without a manager in charge. Pochettino’s men were made to toil hard to get the goal and had to chase the game for the most part having fallen behind to a Salomon Rondon goal in the fourth minute.
The Baggies left the Wembley stadium the happier of the two teams after playing out a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.
West Bromwich Albion went on to draw their next match 2-2 against Newcastle United despite pulling away with a 2-0 lead. Last weekend they failed to get all three points against Crystal Palace and ended up with a 0-0 draw.
They now have another opportunity this weekend to get a good result when they come up against Swansea City. The Swans themselves are struggling way more and are rock bottom in the 20th place. West Brom are sitting in the 17th place in the league table. They are just three points and one place above the safety zone and have just collected 2 wins from a possible 15 in the league so far.
With the strikers in both teams failing to convert opportunities it will be an even contest and possibly a low scoring encounter.
Here is how the Baggies line-up might look for their midweek match against Swansea City.
With Alan Pardew in charge, West Bromwich Albion will be hoping to stay up in the Premier League after parting ways with Tony Pulis. Their performances against Tottenham and Manchester City where they lost 2-3 showed that they have enough quality in the squad to cut it out in the Premier League.
Defence
34-year-old Ben Foster is expected to turn up in goal for West Bromwich Albion.
Allan-Romeo Nyom is expected to play in right back. Ex-Arsenal player Kieran Gibbs will be covering the left back position.
In the heart of their defence, it is likely to be Ahmed Hegazi once again lining up next to their captain Jonny Evans.
Midfield
A midfield quartet with Claudio Yacob and Jay Livermore in the centre and Sam Field and Matt Phillips on the wings can be expected to turn up for West Brom. Gareth Barry, who was taken off on the half-hour mark with an injury might not be able to make the starting line up.
Attack
The striking combination is likely to be Jay Rodriguez playing off Salomon Rondon.
