Wolverhampton Wanderers entertain Sunderland this weekend, as they look to possibly stretch their lead at the top to seven points in the English Championship. The Wolves take on a Black Cats side who are looking for their second victory under the new manager, Chris Coleman. Nonetheless, they managed to secure a victory in their last away game against Burton Albion and will now look to build on their success on the road.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s men are currently leading the English Championship, four points clear off Cardiff City and have managed to secure six consecutive league victories going into this game. Wolves will be firm favourites to get the job done against the Black Cats who are struggling at the end of the table and are in danger of facing relegation at the end of the season.
The Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo is expected to name an unchanged line-up from the side that narrowly beat Birmingham 1-0 on Monday night. With no fresh injury concerns, the Portuguese manager might opt for the same winning formula and use a 3-4-3 formation at home to Sunderland.
3-4-3 Wolverhampton Wanderers Predicted Line-Up To Face Sunderland
Defence
John Ruddy should once again start in goal for the Wolves and might be shielded by a back three consisting of Ryan Bennett, Conor Coady and Willy Boly. The defenders have done well recently which has seen them just concede two goals in the last six league matches. They have also kept four clean sheets in that time which has contributed towards their excellent form.
Nuno Espírito Santo would be hoping that his defenders step up once again and help the team bag another three points in their quest to win the league and secure automatic promotion this season.
Midfield
The Wolves manager is expected to continue with the same midfield four that started against Birmingham City on Monday which included Matt Doherty on the right flank, Romain Saïss and Alfred N’Diaye at the centre of the park and Barry Douglas putting in a shift on the left-hand side of the midfield.
Nuno Espírito Santo may also opt to freshen things up and play Rúben Neves in centre-midfield if he chooses to go a bit more attacking against Sunderland at home.
Attack
The terrific attacking trio of Ivan Cavaleiro, Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota will once again line up as part of the Wolves’ front three. They have been excellent form this season and have collectively contributed by scoring 27 goals and making 14 assists in this campaign so far.
