Apoel Nicosia faced Tottenham at Wembley tonight with an exit from the competition already confirmed. The match ended 3-0 as Tottenham put in a dominant display at home.
Tottenham topped their group with tonight’s win, putting in an impressive display in the European competition so far.
The Tottenham player’s performance review from tonight’s game :
Michel Vorm: 6/10
With very limited attempts from Apoel, Vorm was left to while his time away in his own half as he watched his side hammer the oppositions with one attack after the other. Getting the clean sheet was the cherry on the top of a very boring day between the sticks.
Serge Aurier: 7/10
The Ivorian was a handful for Apoel throughout the match as he terrorized the side from the right. He launched the ball into the box with pace towards Llorente to get the assist for the first goal for Tottenham.
Davinson Sanchez: 7/10
He put in a good shift from the back recognizing the Apoel attacks early and helping his side launch fast counters. The Apoel strikers could not settle in the Tottenham half for a single possession, with Sanchez breathing down their necks.
Juan Foyth: 6/10
The 19-year-old had a quiet game free of any defensive errors. Impressive for an inexperienced youngster.
Danny Rose: 6/10
He drilled in menacing balls into the box for Llorente to pounce on and combined well with Nkodou down the left. However, he earned himself a yellow after elbowing an opposition player in the 67th minute.
Harry Winks: 6/10
His distribution was decent, nothing out of the ordinary.
Son-Heung Min: 8/10
The South Korean continued his blazing run of form with a sweet strike into the side netting to get his side the second goal in the 37th minute. He was really sharp tonight taking on the Apoel defenders whenever he could get the ball. He was taken off after 65 minutes, in anticipation of being featured in the weekend fixture against Stoke City.
Moussa Sissoko: 6/10
Sissoko filled the game with his usual energetic runs down the wing but failed to make a significant impact for the side.
Dele Alli: 5/10
Alli fell short from his usual standards turning the ball over every now and then. He had a few crisp touches on the ball as won himself a freekick in front of the box.
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou: 7/10
The 22-year-old played with a lot of enthusiasm with a willingness to impress Pochettino. He made his mark in the game with a goal, as his shot deflected against an Apoel defender in the 80th minute, killing the game off for good. The winger’s pace was hard for the Apoel defenders to handle although his dribbling and composure on the help do need some work.
Fernando Llorente: 8/10
The striker was impressive from the start of the game. He broke the deadlock in the 20th minute with an impressive turn to get away from the defender and slot the ball past the keeper. He also combined with Son Heung-Min to get the assist for the 2nd goal.
Substitutes :
Mousa Dembele: 5/10
He did his usual duties and held the defensive midfield position. Intercepted the ball when needed and dribbled the ball out of dangerous areas as required in the last stages of the match.
