The ongoing chatter regarding Keylor Navas’ situation at the Santiago Bernabeu has somehow rattled the goalkeeper mentally. The Costa Rican international has had pretty smooth proceedings until this season.
The 30-year-old has maintained a steady approach this season but an injury halted his progress. The Madrid keeper had been battling with an injury but now has returned to the setup and has been handling the charge in the goal.
There has been constant speculation regarding his future at the Spanish Club as Los Blancos have been linked with various goalkeepers in the past from David De Gea to Thibaut Courtois but couldn’t be able to bring anyone and Navas has been their saviour a number of times.
But the shot-stopper seemed to have gone frustrated as he has issued a warning to the club. He is well aware of Real’s intention to replace him with a more coveted name and has made it clear he will not negotiate and would leave only if a club offers a similar deal to his current contract.
With Navas on the wrong side of the current situation, Real might be willing to offload him and they would be needed the service of a new goalkeeper.
Let’s have a look at three names who might come to Spain.
Kepa Arrizabalaga
The Athletic Bilbao keeper has been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu but no official approach has been made. The 23-year-old has been a revelation for Athletic Bilbao and is in the contention to be the second choice keeper behind David De Gea.
He boasts of brilliant distribution skills, excellent reflexes and has a maturity level exceeding his age. Madrid would love to have a player like him but Bilbao won’t make it easy it seems.
Thibaut Courtois
The Chelsea keeper is having a pretty good season but he recently rejected a new contract offer which must have triggered Madrid’s attention. The Belgian international has shut down contract talks till the summer and Madrid might test Chelsea’s resolve by launching a hefty bid.
Courtois is regarded as one of the top keepers in the world currently and he certainly has the ability to match Madrid’s demand.
Gianluigi Donnarumma
The teenage Italian has been the subject of speculation but eventually stayed on the books of AC Milan after agreeing to a new deal. But with Milan stuttering in the Serie-A this season he might be interested in exploring a new challenge elsewhere.
