Lewis Grabban is a wanted man these days. The Bournemouth striker is on loan at Sunderland currently and has been scoring goals for fun it seems. 10 goals in 14 starts speak volumes about his talent and there have been numerous interests from Championship clubs with the likes of Fulham and Wolves who are ready to make a move for him.
Grabban arrived at the Stadium of Light on a season-long loan but the Cherries do have a clause which would allow them to recall the player if they want. Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe knows the ongoing situation and has assured that he would take best possible steps.
“We will sit down with Grabbs and make the right call for him, for us and for everybody, to see what the next step is.
“The recall was put in for a number of reasons but there is no doubting his quality.
“He scored goals in the Championship before and it is good to see him do it on a regular basis.
Sunderland don’t have the financial structure to cope if the player ultimately leaves in January. There were no loan fees included and the Black Cats have been paying only a part of Grabban’s current wage.
So Coleman has to have some plan B and the former Wales manager is hoping Grabban will be in the Wearside until the end of this season. “From what I can see the player is happy here, we’ve had no contact from Bournemouth regarding Lewis, although I’m sure on the back of what he’s done there’ll be plenty of admirers.
“But as I sit here, Lewis we hope will be here for the rest of the season.”
Grabban’s brilliant form has left Bournemouth in two minds and the Cherries might call him in January to have a better view of the current situations. A lot is also depending on the player’s wish as right now it seems he has settled well to life in the Wearside.
Sunderland know it would be highly impossible for them to keep a hold of the player who has been their most effective player. Sunderland have been rotting in the relegation zone and they have to ensure they retain the player.
Bournemouth are in the 15th position and Howe might need the service of Grabban at his disposal in the near future. Callum Wilson has offered some late flurry of goals and he could form a threatening partnership with Grabban up front.
