Ahmed Hegazy has been quite a revelation since he joined West Brom in the summer. The Egyptian international has been ever-present in the Baggies’ first team and has started all 14 of their Premier League matches this season. The Defensive ace also scored a goal on his debut for the Baggies against Bournemouth at the Hawthorns on the opening day of the season. The 26-year-old joined the Midlands club from Al Ahly SC on a season-long loan deal.
Some reports have suggested that West Brom can activate a clause which will let them sign Hegazy on a permanent basis at the end of the season. Sportsmail claims that the fee for the transfer is set at €5m which is around £4.4m going by the current exchange rate.
The West Midlands outfit are looking to extend his stay at the Hawthorns but face stiff competition from rival Premier League teams which include Leicester City. The Baggies are now fearing that they might end up losing him and the defender’s head might be turned now that other top clubs are lining up for him.
Let’s take a look at three potential options which West Brom boss Alan Pardew can look to bring in to replace Ahmed Hegazy at the club.
Denis Odoi (Fulham FC)
The Fulham right-back has scored two goals in 16 appearances for the Cottagers this season. The Belgian has been one of the key figures at the club and his stellar performances has helped Fulham climb to 12th in the EFL Championship table.
The Championship defender is good with his feet and can dribble with the ball going forward. He has incredible pace and his sprint speed is one of his strongest attributes which makes him an ideal candidate for West Brom boss Alan Pardew to consider.
Daniel Opare (FC Augsburg)
The Ghanaian has been in terrific form for FC Augsburg this season. He is incredibly pacey and has a whole host of clubs chasing after him which include the likes of Stoke City, Everton and Watford. He has made 11 appearances for the Bundesliga club and is set to depart with his contract running out at the end of the season. However, the Baggies need to move in quickly for him as the African defender is bound to attract attention from a Champions League club if he’s available on a free transfer next summer.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool FC)
The young English right-back has impressed a lot of people with his performances this season. Alexander-Arnold scored from a free-kick in his Champions League debut for the Reds in a crucial European playoff match against Hoffenheim. Since then, he has grown as a player and embraced the Anfield faithful with some brilliant displays for the club.
However, his first-team opportunities have dried up recently with Joe Gomez being preferred to play in the first-team. West Brom can make a cheeky approach to bring in the youngster on a loan deal.
