Tottenham Hotspur suffered a major setback in midweek when they lost 2-1 in an away game at Leicester City in the Premier League. It was Spurs’ fourth defeat of the season, which has seen them drop out of the Top 6 for the first time this season. Mauricio Pochettino’s men are now facing another stern test away at Watford with three crucial points up for grabs on Saturday.
Marco Silva’s Watford won’t be an easy proposition for this Spurs side and the Hornets will be looking to secure a victory that could put them level on points with Tottenham in the league table. Watford lost to Manchester United in midweek at home in a highly entertaining game of football which featured six goals. They will now be looking to bounce back against Spurs who are struggling at the moment.
Tottenham has historically dominated this fixture and has won the past seven matches against the Hornets. In fact, the last time Watford beat Spurs was way back in 1994 in a league cup match which they won 3-2. Mauricio Pochettino is expected to opt for a 3-5-1-1 formation and Harry Winks might be in line for a return to the Spurs’ starting eleven.
3-5-1-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Watford
Defence
Hugo Lloris is set to start in goal for Spurs once again with the French keeper failing to keep a clean sheet in their last four games in all competitions. Eric Dier, Davinson Sánchez and Jan Vertonghen will make up the three men defence.
The Spurs boss will hope for a better defensive display at Vicarage Road to give themselves the best chance of securing all three points.
Midfield
Harry Winks is a doubt for the Watford game but should return to take a spot at the centre of the park. He may pair up with the creative duo of Delli Alli and Christian Eriksen in the Spurs midfield.
Mauricio Pochettino has missed the contribution of Harry Winks in recent matches with the English footballer key to how Spurs play. He will be the holding man in midfield and will allow Erikson and Alli to express themselves in the final third.
Kieran Trippier may return and start on the right while Ben Davies will do the same on the left flank. Both fullbacks did not feature in the midweek defeat at Leicester.
Attack
The South Korean international, Son Heung-min may start as part of the Spurs’ attack while playing off Harry Kane who will lead the lines and try to recapture his excellent form in front of goal.
