Premier League leaders Manchester City take on Southampton at the Etihad Stadium hoping to make it 12 league victories in a row on Wednesday night. The Citizens have started the season undefeated and are overwhelming favourites to win the Premier League title. The Blues of Manchester currently have an eight-point lead over their rivals Manchester United but a victory for the Red Devils at Watford can cut that lead to five. Regardless of the result at London, Pep Guardiola’s men will go out to collect all three points over the Saints on Wednesday.
Southampton secured a thumping 4-1 win over Everton on Sunday, which saw a return to form for striker Charlie Austin, who scored a second-half brace. However, it’s going to take a mammoth effort from the Saints to stop this Manchester City team. Recent history has also shown the Citizens’ dominance over Southampton with the Manchester club coming out on top in five out of the previous seven occasions.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton
Defence
The Brazilian Ederson will continue in goal after an impressive season so far. He has settled well at Manchester and has a solid and reliable pair of hands. Vincent Kompany came back from injury against Huddersfield Town and will again be in line to start with the Argentine defender, Nicolas Otamendi, at the heart of City’s defence. Kyle Walker will play in right back while Fabian Delph will continue as the left back in Pep Guardiola’s back four.
Midfield
The midfield trio of David Silva, Fernandinho and Kevin De Bruyne has been the most consistent members of this Manchester City team so far in this campaign. They have been at the heart of every move and has impressed with their qualities on the ball, work ethic and overall football intelligence. It is no wonder that the Spanish manager sticks with them for every major match and let his terrific trio do all the talking on the pitch.
Attack
The Blues of Manchester are blessed with a lot of attacking talents and possess two of the deadliest forwards of the modern game. Sergio Aguero played in their last match against the Terriers so the Brazilian forward, Gabriel Jesus might be in line to start this game against the Saints. Leroy Sane is set to retain his place on the left side of the front three. Bernardo Silva is expected to start in place of Raheem Sterling on the right.
With so many options to choose from, Pep Guardiola will be spoilt for choice. However, evident from their 11-match winning streak, all of his players know how to win and are capable enough to bag maximum points against any opposition.
