The transfer saga of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has taken a whole new shape as it seems. Following interests from several top clubs around Europe, including Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, the English International might be on his way to Old Trafford next summer.
As reported by Spanish news agency, Don Balon, the Red Devils have shockingly emerged as the prime candidate for the signature of Dele Alli. However, the report further suggests that the highly talented midfielder could staggeringly cost United a fee of €200million!
Therefore, the question will stand – should Manchester United spend their fortune on the services of Dele Alli?
Manchester United have lacked the presence of world-class attackers in their team this season, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic just making his comeback and Wayne Rooney departing in the summer. Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been the only creative force for the record PL champions this season. Even then, however, the Armenian was criticized by coach Jose Mourinho, following his poor performances in recent matches, which sparked a rumour linking him to a possible return to Borussia Dortmund.
It’s only obvious that the Red Devils desperately need a new attacking midfielder in their ranks next summer. Dele Alli might be a perfect fit for Manchester United considering the fact that he’s one of the very few young players who have a significant amount of exposure in the Premier League.
His brilliant display against the current European champions Real Madrid at Wembley recently, where he scored twice to clinch a famous victory for Spurs, helped him to earn rave reviews from a number of pundits from all over Europe. The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the most diligent playmakers in the Premier League and there’s no doubt that head coach Jose Mourinho will be enthralled by the idea of having him at his disposal.
However, there is one catch.
While there are many reasons as to why Dele Alli is actually the best English creative midfielder at the moment, the fee of €200million might be a little too much for the Red Devils. Flushing out such a huge fee for a single player could prove to be too much of a gamble by the Manchester giants.
Therefore, the Reds should move on from the idea of signing Dele Alli for an astonishingly high fee and instead give their priority to other sensational alternatives in the market. The Red Devils are already linked with the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale, both of whom could significantly strengthen the overall attack for Manchester United next season.
