In one of the recent reports by The Scottish Sun, it was reported that Rangers are keen to hand contract extensions to Ross McCrorie and Robby McCrorie. The Gers rate these two young lads very highly and it seems that they are reluctant to lose hold over them anytime soon. While Ross plies his trade as a center-back Robby is a goalkeeper and it is perceived that both of them would be putting pen to an improved deal.
Rangers are a club in a torrid state at this stroke of hour and are desperate for some sort of a resurrection. After their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Dundee on Saturday, the Light Blues have now lost two games on trot and are currently placed at the 4th spot in the league table with 24 points to their name from 14 games. In a situation like this, handing contract extension to two of the most notable starlets would be an astute move by the Glasgow-based club.
Ross has bagged 8 appearances in the Scottish Premiership so far this season and has slowly but surely been cementing his place in the backline. From what we have seen so far, he is unarguably a very talented starlet with a lot of potential to offer. His current contract expires in the summer of 2019 and if he eventually signs a new deal, it would see him getting tied to Rangers until the summer of 2021. He does inject resilience at the back and has the scope of developing further.
Rangers’ arch rivals, Celtic, do have some dazzling youngsters in their arsenal and it is important that the Teddy Bears form a core team with some young guns to meet their short term as well as long term needs. Robby is a shot-stopper who is currently out on loan at Berwick, but might be recalled in January. He has developed in a fairly decent manner and the club see him as a key asset in the near future.
After Pedro Caixinha got sacked, Graeme Murty started his reign in a decent manner but his tactical nous have been timorous of late and it goes without saying that the board should be keen to find a permanent gaffer. However, another priority of Rangers must be to ensure that they keep the McCrorie brothers in their books as a new deal would surely be a step in the right direction for them.
