Tottenham Hotspur failed to beat West Brom at Wembley on Saturday which has seen them get leapfrogged by rivals Arsenal in the Premier League standings. Mauricio Pochettino’s men will now be looking to bounce back against Leicester City on Tuesday night in what promises to be an entertaining game of football.
But the Spurs manager now has a real dilemma on whether to stick with the same players who featured against the Baggies or try and freshen up the team with some changes. With fixtures coming up thick and fast, it is expected that the Argentine will make some changes for their trip to the King Power Stadium.
However, Victor Wanyama, Toby Alderweireld and Vincent Janssen still remain long-term absentees and won’t feature in the game on Tuesday. Spurs fans will be hoping that they can continue their recent good run at the Foxes’ home ground. Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Leicester City 6-1 in their last encounter with the West Midlands club but a lot has changed since then. Both sides will be looking to secure victory with three vital points up for grabs and that should make the match an open affair.
Predicted 3-4-2-1 Tottenham Hotspur Line-Up Vs Leicester City
Defence
Hugo Lloris should retain his place in the Spurs side but the goalkeeper has been struggling to find form lately with just one clean sheet in the last eight matches. The trio of Eric Dier, Davinson Sánchez and Jan Vertonghen will be tasked to protect their French goalkeeper by keeping the Foxes’ attackers at bay.
Leicester City has scored 17 goals in 13 Premier League matches so the Spurs defence would be in for a real test on Tuesday night. Stopping the likes of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Shinji Okazaki won’t be easy but Tottenham boasts one of the best defensive records in the Premier League, shipping in just 10 goals in the league this season.
Midfield
After an ineffective showing against West Brom, it is expected that Mauricio Pochettino will freshen up his midfield. Moussa Sissoko and Mousa Dembélé are expected to start in central midfield with Serge Aurier on the right flank and Ben Davies on the left. The changes will give Tottenham some defensive protection with all four midfield options willingly to work hard and go that extra mile for their team.
It would be interesting to see whether Danny Rose features in this match with his Spurs future up in the air.
Attack
The terrific duo of Delli Alli and Christian Eriksen will set up just behind Harry Kane as part of the Spurs frontline. Tottenham have scored 21 goals in 13 league games and the front three have been responsible for the majority of those goals.
If they manage to link up and play well, Spurs will have a great chance to bag all three points. Here is how they might line up:
