As per one of the latest reports by Ghana Web, Celtic are keen to land FC Astana’s dazzling hitman, Patrick Twumasi, in the January transfer window to beef up their attacking arsenal. However, they are likely to face stiff competition from Turkish outfit, Bursaspor, who are also perceived to have put the attacker on their radar.
Celtic have had a resounding season so far in the domestic competitions under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers. They are placed at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and have once again erected a strong footing for themselves in the Premiership. However, their run in the Champions League was a disappointing one once again.
Rodgers is keen to strengthen his side in such a manner that they would be able to withstand the pressure of the European elite club level competition and bagging a forward with immense potential would really help them in their pursuit of enhancing their attacking options in the right direction.
The Bhoys do have two quality strikers in the shapes of Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths but apparently, they are keen to land a forward who has the potential to play not only as a striker but also from the wider areas. Odsonne Edouard, who was signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, hasn’t been convincing and the former Liverpool boss might be against the idea of signing him permanently.
In a scenario like this, making Twumasi, who is valued at €1.2million, would be an astute move by the Hoops. The 23-year-old started his senior career with Latvian side, Spartaks Jurmala and after two loan productive spells with Astana, he was signed permanently by the Kazakhstan based side and has been successful in inking his name in the good books of football fraternity.
The Ghanaian striker has smashed 4 goals in 5 Europa League games so far this season, thus showing his calibre in a tournament where a lot lies at stake. Well-built, fast and relentless, Twumasi is a clinical striker who can score goals as well as create chances on a regular basis to turn the tables in favour of his employers.
Besides, he is capable enough to operate as a lone striker and can be effective from the wings too, and no wonder why his stocks are so highly rated. Although he might lack the experience of playing in Scottish football, he has all the ingredients to excel and Rodgers should try to get this deal done once the January transfer window opens.
