Besiktas forward Cenk Tosun has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham, whose form is in the ascendency for the last few years, saw their stocks skyrocket since the arrival of Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino. Pochettino’s stint has been very successful so far. He has not only transformed the club into genuine title contenders in England but also given them the confidence to take on the hotshots of Europe.
Pochettino’s spell has seen Tottenham Hotspur produce some truly remarkable talent. The Argentine tactician has assembled a side full of energetic, young players who can take the North London side to great heights should they decide to stay in the club for the long-term. There are the likes of Harry Kane, and Harry Winks who have come through the club’s youth academy. While Winks is on the rise and is relatively untested, Kane has turned into one of the most ferocious strikers in the English league.
Then there are the likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez who the club brought in. These players were untested in the big waters and the club’s decision to gamble on these men paid off spectacularly.
With Pochettino’s speciality being able to harness the talent and showcase it on the big stage, it will now be a tempting opportunity for Cenk Tosun should Tottenham come calling. The white team of North London currently has Harry Kane and Fernando Llorente as their two forwards but Llorente is north of 30 and Tottenham will be keen to look for a long-term replacement.
Tosun is a quality striker who scored 27 times last season and is off to a flier again having scored ten goals in eighteen matches this time around. He has also notched up three assists.
Tosun’s clinical finishing and his attitude of being the fox in the box will make him the perfect back up hitman in front of a quality midfield line up who love to feed a striker with delightful balls, ask Harry Kane.
Tosun’s fee could go up, given Everton, Crystal Palace and Borussia Dortmund are all interested in the striker. It could spark a bidding war and in the current market it could hike up his price by many folds.
The fact the Turkish international’s interest in a move to the English Premier League may tip the scales in Tottenham’s favour, given they are now in a far better condition and form than both Crystal Palace and Everton to lure in players.
With Llorente ageing fast, Tosun will be a perfect back-up for Harry Kane and Mauricio Pochettino would love to have a striker of Tosun’s quality in his side.
