According to reports, a move is being considered by Zinedine Zidane for Anthony Martial of Manchester United. The French forward plays as a winger for Manchester United but is more than capable of leading the line as he showed in his first season under Louis Van Gaal. He is young and would provide the perfect injection of pace and finesse to the ageing Madrid team up front. Madrid are ready to shell out as much as £80 million for the Frenchman.
Real Madrid are now the defending La Liga Champions and also the current UEFA Champions League winners. Despite the club reaching such great heights, everything is not quite well at the Bernabeu. They have failed to turn up this season with their forwards out injured or misfiring.
Some of the best players in Europe are currently onto the fold of the Galacticos, including the highest goalscorer in the history of Champions League and arguably the best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo. Apart from him, Welsh winger Gareth Bale and French marksman Karim Benzema are also a part of the lineup, boosting the attacking arsenal of Los Merengues for quite some time.
However, while Bale has not been able to be a part of the Real Madrid starting eleven on a regular basis due to his injury-stricken career since moving to the Santiago Bernabeu, the likes of Ronaldo and Benzema have not been able to notch up enough goals for their likings, leaving a big hole in the attacking department for their team.
This has compelled the gaffer, Zidane, to look for further options as he prepares to take evasive action in order to restore his side’s dominance in the La Liga, which has been missing since the start of the current season.
A move that Real Madrid would be willing to risk on, given that they will be bringing in a player of Martial’s quality. However, for Manchester United, it would have to be a solid no for any club approaching their teenage sensation and they would do well to see Martial plays out his contract before Fiorentino Perez comes prying again; a memory United fans are not fond of especially since the last time a player he took away from them was none other than five-time player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, if the Galacticos can land the Frenchman, it might be a good addition to their arsenal. With his guile and ability to chip in with important goals from time to time, Martial can be an option that his compatriot Zinedine Zidane would like to keep handy in the near future.
