The sacking of a manager is a term that has become so common that it’s almost casually attached to any manager passing through a lean patch and a story develops around it. However, it still remains the most sought-after job, simply because it offers a glamour very few jobs can.
The manager sets the club with his plans and strategies and devises tactics. He is the one who shoulders the blame when something goes wrong and reaps the success of the club when things go right. If he is successful, he becomes the hero but if he fails to deliver, he is simply sacked for the next man with a message of formal gratitude. His previous record, image, abilities all are left out of consideration as nothing is considered when the sack comes.
West Ham United fans have seen their team get off to a shaky start this season, to say the least. The weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Watford showed that despite a change in manager, it is unlikely that things will change fast. Bilic getting the axe does not automatically solve the problems and in all fairness to Moyes, he needs more time.
West Ham United are now winless in their last five matches. Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Watford came on the back of the 1-4 humiliation at the hands of Liverpool. Matters only complicated further as these two results were preceded by the whimsical 2-2 draw where West Ham meekly surrendered their two-goal lead to bottom-placed Crystal Palace.
The surprising comeback win against Tottenham Hotspur in the London derby in the Carabao Cup is now a distant memory and was a temporary relief for the club. Unless Moyes changes the fortunes, which have dropped at an alarming rate, it will be gloomy for his future as well at West Ham United. The Scot needs to find a new formula soon to bring his side back to winning ways in the league.
Here is how they might line up for their second match under him.
Formation: 4-3-3
Defence
Joe Hart is likely to start in goal. Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna are likely to be the two centre-backs with Pablo Zabaleta at right-back and Aaron Creswell at left back.
Midfield
The three-man midfield is likely to consist of Mark Noble in the middle with Cheikhou Kouyate to his right and Pedro Obiang to his left.
Attack
Diafra Sakho is likely to start on the right with the talented Manuel Lanzini on the left and Andy Carroll playing as the centre-forward once again.
