The adventure of the Premier League is followed worldwide. A fast tempo of football, hard and crunching tackles, a fancy for the spectacular and a habit of producing drama as good as the best-scripted shows in the world has seen this league become the most followed competition in the world of football.
This league has produced unpredictable stars and teams that have excelled and succeeded beyond anyone’s imagination. Leicester City wrote themselves a fairy tale that grasped the attention of the entire world in the 2015-16 season.
From being threatened by relegation in the 2014-15 season, Ranieri’s side began the journey to an incredible come back. It saw them fight off relegation in the 2014-15 season and follow it up with an incredible title win the next season, as the world stood watching in amazement.
Winning the Premier League changed the club overnight. They had become one of the English sides to represent Europe, they were linked with big-name signings and most importantly they were being referred to as defending champions. Things became even better when Leicester’s title win actually gave them the power to pull of signings from all over the world with players interested to join the “English Champions”.
It is now being reported that Leicester City are keeping an eye on New York City FC player Jack Harrison. The 20-year old Englishman played for United as a boy before securing a move to the USA based club New York City.
His season at the States just ended with New York City losing 4-3 on aggregate to Columbus Crew in the MLS playoffs but Jack looks like he has a bright future in store. He finished the year with 10 goals for his side and played a very impressive season with good attacking display in his team’s run up to the playoffs.
The player’s exciting performances led him to get a call-up from the England under 21 national camp. Harrison has also been singled out for praise by ex-New York City stars and European legends like Patrick Vieira, Frank Lampard and David Villa.
The Englishman, who plays on the right wing for his team, is understood to be valued at £6m and has a further two years left on his contract. He is currently being shown interest in a number of English clubs like 2015-16 champions Leicester City, recently taken over Everton and newly promoted Brighton and Hove Albion.
Should he choose to move to the 2015-16 champions, he will definitely be taking a step in the bigger direction but the righteousness of the decision will surely be questioned as young Harrison will surely be demoted to a bench role, like Kelechi Iheanacho now; something he should not be facing at this critical point in his career.
