Chelsea are keeping an eye on Paris Saint-Germain star, Javier Pastore to give their midfield a massive boost going into the second half of the season.
The PSG midfielder has recently been linked with Premier League clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea with the Daily Star reporting that a fee in the region of £18m has been discussed. The 28-year-old has been frustrated with the lack of first-team football and was now looking to leave the French capital in search of greener pastures. With Adrian Rabiot, Marco Verratti, Thiago Motta and Julian Draxler all ahead of him in the pecking order, the Argentine has been left frustrated on the bench.
Talksport has recently claimed that Sevilla look set to win the race for his signature with Liverpool and Chelsea likely to miss out. But the Argentine confessed that he would rather join a Serie A club than ply his trade for Sevilla in La Liga.
In an interview with FCInterNews.it, his agent Marcelo Simonian confirmed it and said,
“I have been impressed with Inter so far this season and Walter Sabatini is the best in his role, while Piero Ausilio is also excellent. Luciano Spalletti is a great coach, the best in Italy. Bringing in Pastore would be a historic opportunity for the Nerazzurri to get back to their winning ways of the recent past. We’ll see if their Chinese owners can sniff out a deal and make the most of having those two phenomenal Inter directors on their books.”
Javier Pastore has won everything in French football with Paris Saint Germain and so it is only justified that a new challenge interests him. He has just made 9 appearances for PSG this season, scoring three goals and assisting one. Although, he has struggled to find the same kind of form at the international level. While representing his country, Pastore has just scored two goals in 27 appearances for Argentina.
With the Fifa World Cup 2018 set to kick off in the summer, the midfielder has identified that he needs regular first-team football to have any chance of securing his place in Argentina’s World Cup starting eleven. Hence, it looks increasingly likely that he will leave the French capital during the winter transfer window in January.
It remains to be seen whether Inter Milan make an offer for him in the near future. However, he will be spoilt for choice even if the Italians do not make a move with a whole host of clubs ready to pounce for his signature.
Chelsea can really boost their midfield by signing the Argentine as his creativity will be a huge asset for them going forward.
