Celtic have made a dazzling start to their new season in the domestic competitions once again, as they are placed at the top of Scottish Premiership table with 33 points to their name after 13 games. To keep their momentum up and running throughout the season, they should make necessary additions to their arsenal in January and here are three players they should target.
Louis Moult
Although it would be absolutely hard to prise Motherwell’s sensational goal-getter, Louis Moult, out of Fir Park, the Celts must leave no stone unturned to do the same in order to beef up their attacking arsenal. Moult is undoubtedly one of the finest strikers in Scottish football at this point of time and would be a superb acquisition for Celtic.
So far this season, the 25-year-old has smashed 12 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions, including his brace against Aberdeen on Saturday. He is someone who has proven his calibre week in and week out and would enable Rodgers’ side in becoming sharper up front.
Richmond Boakye
Capable of plying trade on either wing as well as a striker, Ghana international, Richmond Boakye has lately been on the radar on many top quality sides across Europe. Currently on loan with Red Star Belgrade, the 24-year-old has played for the likes of Atalanta and Genoa, apart from his various other loan spells.
The former Liverpool boss should be interested in him, for he showcases a world of versatility and predatory instincts up front, which make him a lethal package. Besides, he has a decent amount of experience under his belt as well and a move to Celtic Park would be an ideal choice for him.
Miquel Nelom
Feyenoord’s defender, Miquel Nelom, was one of the targets of the Hoops during the summer transfer window. The move, however, couldn’t materialize and considering that his contract with the Dutch outfit expires at the end of this season, it would make a lot of sense if Celtic table a bid for him in January.
Nelom is a versatile defender, who has the ability to play at the heart of the defence as well as at the left-back position. Celtic have been facing a lot of problems this season as their defenders are being regularly sidelined by injuries and given the fact that the 27-year-old Netherlands international has been putting forth stupendous performances in Eredivisie for quite some time now, he could be a solution to their woes.
