The rumours of Cristiano Ronaldo possibly leaving Real Madrid at the end of this season are surfacing around for quite some time now. The 32-year-old Portuguese sensation has had a pretty rough summer, where he was accused of tax evasion by the Spanish government, which did in fact, opened the door for him to move elsewhere in the summer.
Although Ronaldo did end up staying at the Bernabeu, recent reports from Spanish media claim that the former Manchester United star has now finally told Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he wants to leave the Bernabeu. The report further suggests that Ronaldo wants to move to London and preferably to Chelsea.
This could be a massive boost the west London giants as it can not only take the image of the club into higher stratum but at the same time, also boost the team’s attacking lineup.
Chelsea have been struggling due to their shortcomings in the attacking department this season. Even though the Blues are currently third in the Premier League table, they still trail table-toppers Manchester City by a whopping nine points.
Eden Hazard, the star of last season, has started the season on a relatively slow note, while players like Willian, Pedro or even Michy Batshuayi has completed failed to add the attacking impetus for the Blues this season.
Therefore, it’s only obvious to think that Antonio Conte’s side desperately need some attacking reinforcements and what better option than Cristiano Ronaldo can be there? The Portuguese superstar is arguably the best attacker in the world, though that proposition has been toppled by Lionel Messi this season.
Prior to his transfer to Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo was a Premier League superstar. The 32-year-old has a stunning record of scoring 84 goals and providing 45 assists in less than 200 games for Manchester United in the Premier League.
Having him on the team sheet will certainly boost the confidence of the players playing around him as well as providing Chelsea with an added exposure in the offensive department.
Furthermore, Ronaldo’s addition to the team will also terrorize his former club Manchester United. The Red Devils’ fans will be completely heartbroken should the Portuguese sensation decides to join the Blues instead of returning to his former club.
Considering all aspects, there’s no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo will be a massive signing, not just for Chelsea but for any club in the world. However, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has remained unmoved regarding the rumours linking Ronaldo’s possible exit from the club, which might add a layer of pessimism about the move amongst Chelsea fans.
