Newcastle United are on the brink of a major takeover, as Amanda Staveley’s company, PCP Capital Partners are all set to buy the North-East club. Star Sports understands that the takeover will be announced this week with the investors willing to spend over £100m when the transfer window rolls back around. Moves for Luke Shaw, Ross Barkley and former Magpies striker Andy Carroll were all discussed in the meeting.
Ross Barkley, in particular, has raised a lot of eyebrows. With the Everton midfielder largely being linked with a move to either of Spurs or Chelsea, Newcastle United hi-jacking the deal could be an impressive way for the new club shareholders to announce themselves on the market.
