Despite all his follies, if there is one thing Arsene Wenger has done well for sure it would have to be his man management of young talent. The Frenchman has always been keen on taking in the unnurtured, raw talent and drilled them through the rigorous course of learning and progressing and turned them into future stars of tomorrow.
Wenger is at the club since 1996. In his 21 year stay at Arsenal, he started the process by revolutionizing the training and development program at the club. The resulting nature of the introduction of such new methods has seen the club inducted with a new and efficient scouting network, a proficient youth academy and a manager in charge who simply loves to introduce young players on to the big stage. Ask, Cesc Fabregas.
Things at the club otherwise have not really gone down well in the recent years. The club has been deprived of success in terms of trophies and with major players leaving almost every other transfer window there has been a question on Arsenal’s eligibility as a top European club.
Despite such mounting pressure, it has been astounding to see Wenger stick to his principles and continue to give a chance to his young players on the big stage. This exact attitude of Arsene Wenger has seen many young players as well head to the Emirates to kick-start their career.
Few La Masia products as well have found their way into his youth academy at London and most have actually been converted into stars by Wenger. Again, ask Cesc Fabregas.
A certain player from the youth academy of La Masia who has gained from Wenger’s proficiency with young talent is Hector Bellerin. The Spanish right wing back, known for his extreme pace and never say die attitude, has become an integral part of Wenger’s Emirates family.
He burst on to the scene very early in his career and made his mark in Europe when he raced down 70 metres against Bayern Munich at the end of a tiring match to seal the deal for the Gunners on a big Champions League night. Arsenal went on to win the match by 2-0.
It is now being reported that Juventus, who lost Dani Alves this season, are keen on a transfer for the Arsenal speedster. They already have De Sciglio but the Italian has not been able to impress at the club and the Italian champions are now targeting the Spanish full-back.
Arsenal, who are set to lose a few stars of their own in the summer next year, will surely not be ready to sell a hot prospect like Bellerin to a European rival and will surely go to any lengths to block the transfer, and will be correct in doing so.
