Jose Mourinho has long been chalking his plans for January transfer window. Manchester United’s recent form hasn’t been that good and they might need some more reinforcements in January.
According to reports, The Red Devils already have a deal sealed for Umaro Embalo. The Benfica youngster might be United’s first signing when the transfer window reopens in January.
United have been very pro-active in accumulating talents from worldwide to enrich their academy and this move is a reflection of that. Over the years the Red Devils have produced some excellent products with the likes of Marcus Rashford who has gone on to represent their club at the senior level.
United have been keeping an eye on the player for some time and now it is being reported that the club have launched a bid of around £5m for the talented winger. Real Madrid are sniffing around the teenager for quite a while but United are set to prise him away under the nose of Los Blancos.
Upon his arrival, Embalo will join the Red Devils academy and in near future could be a part of the senior setup. Primarily a right winger the youngster has been a prolific form for the Benfica youth team.
His style resembles Angel Di Maria and like the Argentine, he is also a left-footed winger. A number of clubs have been battling for his signature but Mourinho used his Jorge Mendes connection to edge out others.
United scouted the player quite thoroughly and only after watching his skills and trickery off the ball the Old Trafford authorities decided to sanction a move. Youngsters like Rashford and Anthony Martial has had their chances under Mourinho and the 16-year-old could emulate that role and become a threat to the opposition speed healing down the wing.
Hailing from Bissau, Guinea the winger already has shown what he is capable of as he has racked up 15 goals for the Portugal U17s in just 18 matches. It remains to be seen whether he can replicate his form in his club career or not.
United had a number of talented Portuguese with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani plying their trades for the English side. Embalo already had an acquaintance with the Manchester-based outfit and as he played a brief part in the UEFA Youth League which ended in a 2-2 draw. Victor Lindelof arrived from Benfica in summer and the 16-year-old could be the next entrant at the Old Trafford.
