Bayer Leverkusen youngster Kai Havertz has visited Liverpool’s Melwood training ground, last month, as per recent reports from the media. Sam Mcguire of Football Whispers is convinced that the highly rated attacking midfielder was granted permission to visit Melwood.
The 18-year-old wonderkid was one of the bright spots in a dire season for Leverkusen last term. The German youngster made a sensational breakthrough into the Leverkusen starting lineup, scoring four goals and providing six assists in just 24 games.
Kai Havertz, however, is still bound to a contract with his current club until 2022, meaning he would definitely cost a fortune for Liverpool.
At the tender age of just 18, Kai Havertz is easily one of the brightest talents in the Bundesliga. In fact, the youngster has been labelled as the ‘next Mesut Ozil‘.
Considering the fact that Liverpool are on the verge of losing Philipe Coutinho, whose contract expires at the end of this season, Kai Havertz could be worth the gamble for Liverpool.
Although he may not have the same qualities as Liverpool’s Brazilian sensation, Havertz, 18, still packs a lot of punch in the final third. He is extremely comfortable on the ball, which is supported by his terrific balance and agility.
His tactical nous, despite his young age, is extraordinary. He can cleverly use his positional sense to navigate his side’s pressing or ball movements while his spatial awareness helps him stay ahead of the opposing defenders.
Havertz epitomizes the role of a modern day attacking midfielder, who can act as the catapult for his side’s offensive progress in the final third. He is always on the lookout for that telling ball as well as having an eye to create more space using clever movements. Furthermore, he can technically sound and is good with his both feet.
However, he doesn’t have the same flair and pace as his Liverpool counterpart, but that shouldn’t be too much of a problem for the Reds. The only drawback from his game is his lack of prowess from long range, which can be a very important asset in the Premier League.
Liverpool have been lacking the services of an intelligent midfielder who can facilitate the central areas with sound passing and clever movements. And Kai Havertz could be the man Liverpool were looking for. At just 18 years of age, he brings a lot of prospect for the future as well, and with Naby Keita arriving next summer, the addition of this highly talented Leverkusen starlet could make the Liverpool midfield very strong.
