Bristol City star Bobby Reid has enjoyed a fantastic start to the 2017-18 season. The midfielder has scored 8 goals in 16 games and is now attracting interest from Leicester City, Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley and Middlesbrough. The 24-year old has a contract that expires at the end of the current season.
With Reid yet to commit long term to the club, the other clubs will be waiting patiently for the January window to open. Bristol are aware of the situation with the player and want to tie him down to a new contract as soon as possible. They also have the option to extend Reid’s contract by twelve months but they want to possibly strike a longer deal with the player who has come through the youth academy at Ashton Gate.
Reid will be keen by the offer from Leicester as it would offer him a chance to test himself at the highest level. His impressive form would earn him a starting spot and it would be down to him to nail down the position. It seems a good offer to consider at the age of 24 if the player holds serious ambition of playing at the highest level.
Craig Shakespeare fell to the impending doom after Leicester City made the worst possible start to the 2017-18 season. With just one win in eight matches, the Foxes were 18th in the Premier League table, only three points ahead of bottom place Crystal Palace. Threatened by relegation the club decided to part ways after the 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion with Shakespeare.
Shakespeare oversaw the arrival of a bunch of new players to the club including exciting talent like Kelechi Iheanacho but his midfield was left vulnerable after Chelsea swooped in for Danny Drinkwater and left it too late for Leicester to find a suitable replacement. Leicester tried to bring in Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva. Complications with the paper work saw the move left too late and FIFA rejected the Portuguese midfielder’s move to Leicester until January. This left both the club and the player frustrated and the foxes were left a player short in their midfield.
The foxes returned to winning ways in the league with an impressive 2-1 away win at Swansea and followed it up with a 3-1 win against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup round of 16 match. They are unbeaten since the sack of Shakespeare. However problems in the midfield continue to exist and Foxes will soon need to register their issue in the middle of the park where they are simply losing too many battles to develop a momentum for their forwards like Vardy, Mahrez and Okazaki to thrive on.
