Everton are having a disastrous season in the Premier League and have already succumbed to six defeats so far this term. This has already taken a toll on the Merseyside club and they have parted ways with their Dutch manager Ronald Koeman last month.
The Toffees have not yet come to a decision over their new manager to be appointed and are in talks with a number of them including Sam Allardyce. Reportedly, the former Sunderland and Crystal Palace manager, who parted ways with the Eagles at the end of the last season citing health issues, might be interested in taking up the job at Goodison Park in the near future and already had a meeting with the owner Farhad Moshiri.
However, the British businessman might be keen on an audacious move and might look to bring in one of the celebrated managers in European football at the current moment in the form of Diego Simeone. The Argentine mastermind is currently in charge of the Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid and has done brilliantly since taking charge in 2011.
Simeone has played a big role in establishing Los Colchoneros as one of the powerhouses in European football over the last few seasons and has also helped them to emerge as the third big name in the La Liga apart from Real Madrid and Barcelona. The 47-year-old led the Rojiblancos to win the La Liga in the 2013/14 season and the Europa League in the 2011/12 season.
Everton are in dire need of a manager who can guide them in the right way and boost them to dish out better performance on the pitch, lifting them out of the dire straits they are currently in. Simeone definitely can be a very good option for them to face the uphill task of finishing in a safe position in the league table, by the end of the season.
A scrappy win over Watford in their last match has provided the Toffees with some much-needed relief and they are looking to repeat the same in the following encounters as well. However, they might need someone able enough to materialize the job and an influential manager like Simeone might be the perfect choice for that.
However, the Argentine gaffer is reportedly happy at his current club and there might be no possibility for the Toffees to get him on their side in the near future. The manager has also signed a new contract with the La Liga outfit and it looks unlikely for him to leave the club.
But can he completely change Everton if Moshiri gets this deal done?
