Leeds United’s promotion dream seems to have evaporated in the air following their miserable from off late. The Whites have lost six out of the last eight matches in the Championship and Thomas Christiansen is now facing an impossible task to steer them to the Championship playoffs.
The Whites did have a successful summer transfer window, as they roped in a number of exciting players but their form has pointed out the need for more players at the Elland Road.
According to reports, Leeds are interested in Sheffield Wednesday forward George Hirst. The Youngster has been a sensation in the English league and a number of clubs are believed to be hunting his signature.
The teenager’s current contract runs until the end of this season and he has rejected the chance of extending his stay and has turned down a new lucrative contract from the club. This has alerted a number of clubs and Leeds United want to pounce on this opportunity.
Elland Road has always been a platform for young players and Hirst could be the latest entrant. Charlie Taylor had a sensational last season and although he opted to move, he will remain as one of the most decorated youngsters to have played for the Yorkshire giants.
Leeds also brought in 19-year-old Jay-Roy Grot and the club do have the setup where these promising players could thrive. Leicester City had a £2m bid rejected for the player, as the Owls thought he is worth more than the offered money.
Everton also had a bid turned down, so it is very clear that he is adored by his parent club. However, the Owls are going to face a very daunting task in keeping him at the club. Although he is too young for the big league, he has all the potential to be a big star and investing him would be a good option.
Leeds currently have a very coveted forward department but consistency has been a problem as the likes of Pierre-Michel Lasogga have not hit their peak form. The 25-year-old has been the preferred choice but lack of teeth in the attack has forced the gaffer to rethink his strategies.
This would probably be the best chance for the Championship outfit to utilise the money they got from the sale of Chris Wood as Hirts could be a very decent option.
He is still inexperienced by this is just the right time for the Whites to snap him up.
