Liverpool will be looking for their third consecutive wins in all competition as they travel to West Ham United this weekend. Afte struggling in an earlier phase of the season, the Reds have managed to somehow bounce back to their best and will be eager to continue that run.
Their defensive futility has been addressed greatly in recent games, as Liverpool have only conceded one goal since the international break earlier last month. The Reds could potentially land on the Champions League places should they manage to pull off a great victory against the Hammers.
West Ham, on the other hand, are also desperate for a win as they look to steer out of danger in the wrong end of the table.
Here’s the predicted Liverpool lineup to face West Ham this weekend.
Defense
Simon Mignolet will be the man between the sticks for Liverpool. The Belgian has performed really well in recent games and will look to continue doing so.
If Dejan Lovren doesn’t manage to get fully fit before the clash, head coach Jurgen Klopp will have to make some changes in his backline.
Ragnar Klavan will keep his place in the side, replacing the Serbian while Joel Matip will partner the Estonian in central defence. Joe Gomez and Alberto Moreno will be the two fullbacks for the Reds. It will be interesting to see how Gomez performs following a few impressive weeks.
Midfield
Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain is poised to make his first start for the Reds in the Premier League. Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum nursing a swollen ankle, meaning the options will be very limited for Jurgen Klopp in the midfield spots. In fact, Chamberlain actually played very well in the Champions League in midweek as well.
He will start alongside Emre Can in central midfield with captain Jordan Henderson guarding the Liverpool backline. Henderson has been quite commanding in recent games, which only bodes well for Jurgen Klopp and his team.
Attack
Daniel Sturridge, a scorer in the last two games, was on the bench in the game against Maribor. He will likely play as the centre-forward this weekend.
This will leave Robert Firmino playing in a slightly deeper role, on the left flank, where he has been effective in the past. Liverpool’s saviour on many occasions this season, Mohamed Salah has been in sublime form off late and is expected to keep his place on the right side of the front-three.
Here is how they might line up:
