Manchester United have emerged as a potential strike force, having undergone a sea of changes this season. Jose Mourinho has brought in a number of players in the summer and has turned the Red Devils into title contenders.
Until the loss at the hand of Huddersfield Town, everything was going perfect but that loss seemed to have derailed the plot. They, however, recovered in a perfect fashion as Mourinho’s side tactically outplayed Tottenham Hotspur in a narrow 1-0 win last weekend.
The Portuguese gaffer has laid the foundation for another successful campaign but they are set to face their biggest challenge so far when they travel to West London to face Chelsea. The defending champions have made a bad start to their Premier League title defence as they have already lost three matches in the proceedings and they cannot afford another defeat.
On the back of a 3-0 hammering against AS Roma, Antonio Conte would be trying to put things into places against a confident Manchester United.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Manchester United Starting Lineup Vs Chelsea
Defence
David De Gea is an obvious option on goal. The Spanish custodian has barely had an off day and has been very reliable for the Red Devils.
Phil Jones has been the undisputed leader at the back and should continue to feature in the backline. Eric Bailly will have a chance to prove his worth again. Ashley Young’s antics on the left side of the defence earned him a call-up to the Three Lions squad and the player would be adamant to justify his position.
Antonio Valencia will keep his position on the right side of the defence.
Midfield
Paul Pogba is unlikely to feature in this match, which means we could see another appearance from Ander Herrera in the midfield. Last year’s player of the season, Herrera hasn’t had a similar influence this season and he would like to change it, starting this game.
Nemanja Matic has been the most consistent performer for the Red Devils and he is likely to be in the thick of things again.
Attack
Marcus Rashford’s individual brilliance has been of great help for Mourinho and to turn things worse for Chelsea, he will unleash the youngster against a shaky Chelsea defence. Henrikh Mkhitaryan has failed to back up his quality with sufficient displays on the pitch but the Armenian Midfielder needs a solid performance in this tie.
Juan Mata will come face to face against his former club and will definitely have a point to prove. Romelu Lukaku will try to end his goal drought. Here is how they might line up:
