A lot has been made regarding the uncertain future of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in the past few months at Arsenal. Both the attacking sensations are reported to be unsettled at the club and are likely to depart from Anfield at the end of this season.
However, Bayern Munich have opened up talks with Arsenal for the services of another striking duo from the club. As per German magazine, SportBild, the Bavarians are keen on signing both Alexandre Lacazette and Danny Welbeck in January. While it’s highly unlikely that both will leave Anfield, Bayern could fancy luring in one of them, in the January window.
In this article, we will discuss as to who should be a better option for Bayern Munich as they aim to strengthen their attacking depth.
Alexandre Lacazette
Lacazette is a very doubtful option for the Bavarians and for obvious reasons as well. The Frenchman only moved to the Premier League this summer, from Lyon. He had a bright start to his career at Arsenal, and as it seems, he is very unlikely to change clubs this winter.
However, should they manage to lure the striker to Germany, it might be a huge bonus for the record German champions. As the recent absence of Robert Lewandowski has evidently shown, Bayern Munich are quite bad without the services of their Polish superstar. In fact, James Rodriguez had to play down a role of false nine against Celtic due to the absence of Lewandowski.
Lacazette is blessed with proper goal-scoring qualities, which bodes well for Bayern Munich. However, the 26-year-old is already one of the fan favourites at his new club, and head coach Arsene Wenger has big plans for the French International in the nigh future. Therefore, a move for ‘Laca’ is a bit far-fetched at the moment.
Danny Welbeck
Welbeck sounds like a perfect acquisition for the Bavarians. The English International has been at the Emirates for three seasons now and has also performed very well when called upon. However, considering the fact Arsenal are already trying to sign a few quality attackers in January, Welbeck’s future at the club might be uncertain, which gives him a proper excuse to leave the Emirates.
Welbeck is full of speed and stamina, which is coupled with his willingness to fight for his team. Throughout the years, the 26-year-old has gained some significant amount of experience, playing at different levels and under different coaches as well.
Therefore, Danny Welbeck seems the perfect choice for Jupp Heyncke’s men. Not only can he further strengthen Bayern’s depth in the attacking department but can also prove to be a proper backup in case Lewandowski gets sidelined with a long-term injury.
But do you think Arsenal can afford to lose either player to the Germans?
