Manchester City’s brilliant display this season hasn’t stopped them from being linked with more players. Pep Guardiola’s side have kick-started the season in thumping fashion as the gaffer is eyeing his first Premier League title.
City spent very heavily in the summer and the result has been quite sensational, as the English side are yet to lose a match in the Premier League and have set a benchmark this season. Despite roping in a number of players in summer, Pep is likely to spend a bit more come January.
According to reports, Manchester City could raid Bayern Munich for the services of Joshua Kimmich. Guardiola knows the player very well during his time at the Allianz Arena and is ready to launch a £44m bid for the player in January.
Kimmich has already proven his worth on the big stage and has established himself at the highest level. The 22-year old’s versatility is pretty impressive and he is currently the first-choice right back at the German club.
He was a bit shaky during the start of his Bayern career but as time passed, he has taken his game up a notch. He is also tipped to be the successor of Philip Lahm in the German team and it is pretty obvious that Bayern wouldn’t want to let him leave anytime soon.
Sporting Director Michael Reschke has already confirmed that the player is not available at this moment and should a transfer go through, it would take an astronomical amount to lure him to the Premier League.
“Joshua has a much higher transfer value. And I believe that FC Bayern wouldn’t give Jo up even for €50m,” he said recently.
Kimmich has a very cordial relationship with Guardiola, who moulded him into the player he now is. The Spanish manager mostly used him in the backline but he is also very efficient, playing in the midfield.
A number of big clubs including Barcelona are also monitoring the player. Kimmich arrived at the club in 2015 from RB Leipzig and has only started to show his true colours for the Bavarians this season.
The youngster has already racked up one goal and three assists in the Bundesliga. He wasn’t getting much game-time under former manager Carlo Ancelotti but Jupp Heynckes has been using him very extensively, who seems he is pretty happy with his performance.
Guardiola splashed money to improve his fullbacks section and despite bringing the likes of Kyle Walker and Danilo, he is still left with a hole in the squad. Can Kimmich fill it?
