Despite some spirited performances in the last few matches, West Ham United’s fate is still hanging by a thread. Slaven Bilic’s side have been flirting with the relegation zone and they need to be very cautious, as they could well go down if things don’t improve.
Bilic’s future at the club remains a big question. The manager had been served an ultimatum before the Tottenham Hotspur match and although he has passed the test to some extent, his side has to improve their display in the next few matches.
If he manages to survive till January, he is poised to make some signings and according to reports, he could revive his interest in Galatasaray midfielder Badou Ndiaye. The player had been linked with the club extensively in the past and the Hammers were very close to securing a deal but somehow, the move collapsed and now they are back for the player again.
The 27-year-old is yet to find the back of the net this season but that hasn’t stopped clubs from scouting the coveted midfielder. Known for his goal-scoring skills, the Senegalese international is one of the shining lights in the Turkish top tier.
Midfield has been a key problem for Bilic. Mark Noble’s form hasn’t been up to the mark. Although he is only 30, he hasn’t done enough to cement a place in the starting lineup and Bilic has been on the lookout for an adequate back up for the player.
The Hammers have lacked that drive in the midfield and the 27-year-old could bring that to the London Stadium. The player moved in August only, so it remains to be seen whether the Turkish club entertains any offer in January,
He is likely to cost much less in this inflated transfer market and Bilic should go all out for him. The Hammers are yet to find a proper replacement for Dimitri Payet, who took the Premier League by storm and Ndiaye could fill his void.
He would be a prized catch for Bilic, who has been under fire following the Hammers’ poor displays. Despite spending heavily in the summer on the squad, he has been finding it difficult to get it going. However, The Hammers hierarchy is likely to sanction a transfer kitty in January and Bilic should use this fund properly so that he would be able to steer the club through the rough patches of this ongoing season.
But is Ndiaye the right man for them?
