Burnley have been in excellent form this season and Sean Dyche’s influence on the side is clearly visible. The Clarets used to emphasise a lot on the defence as they liked to keep it tight at the back but this season, Dyche has imported a new style of play, which has been a huge success.
The manager hasn’t tried anything expansive but has stuck to the basics, which have been the main catalyst behind their success. His revolutionary methods at the Turf Moor have already shaken-up the Premier League and a number of clubs are rooting for his service.
Everton recently parted ways with Ronald Koeman following their worst possible start to a season and could poach Dyche from Burnley. If such a situation arises, the Clarets are lining up a number of candidates to replace the manager and according to reports, they could turn their attention to David Moyes.
The Scottish manager is currently available, as he decided to end his stint at Sunderland following the club’s demotion to the Championship. Moyes had been a father figure at Everton but decided to call it quit in 2013 as he couldn’t resist the temptation of being the successor of Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
But he failed heavily at Old Trafford as he was not able to hold on to his position and perhaps he himself had known the outcome. He went on to manage Real Sociedad and Sunderland later but failed to make it to the next level.
Sean Dyche has set a level at the Turf Moor and Moyes’s aim should be to cross that benchmark. The 54-year-old has the experience of managing Everton for a long time, which could make his task at Burnley easier.
Although Sean Dyche is yet to take a call on the Everton job he is flattered by the opportunity and the Burnley board wants to seal a replacement before he leaves the Turf Moor.
The Scottish manager’s reputation got tarnished following the Black Cats’ dismal performance last season and he would be hoping to revive his fortunes in the top tier. There won’t be a dearth of suitors for him at this moment but given the current situation, his worth lies in the English top tier and the manager himself knows that very well.
So is he an option Burnley should consider if they lose Dyche?
