Liverpool have reportedly sent their scouts to monitor Mexico’s under-17 world cup star Diego Lainez. Jurgen Klopp seems to be planning for the future and looking at long-term prospects as was his case in his first signing as a Liverpool manager in the form of Marko Grujić. With a bunch of young, promising talent at Jurgen’s disposal, the German is keen to add more flavour.
Diego Lainez came through the Club América youth system and earned his call-up to the senior team at a tender age of 16. He played a pivotal role in helping his side finish 5th in the Liga MX last term providing 2 assists. Playing for the most successful club in Mexico, his stock seems to have risen after his brilliant performances in India at the World Cup. The youngster’s performance against England earned him great applause scoring a brace in an unfortunate loss at the hands of The Three Lions.
Lainez shows a sharp burst of pace and has a crafty left foot. He can be deployed in all three positions in the final third of the pitch thereby giving his manager some versatility. Featuring in The Guardian’s 60 best young talents in world football and Goal.com’s 2017 NxGn list of the world’s best teenage players are indicators of the starlet’s potential and talent.
A move to Liverpool would immensely benefit Lainez to fulfil his dream of becoming the “Mexican Messi” given the solid foundation that they provide in the youth set-up. With the likes of Steven Gerrard and Jurgen Klopp as his hierarchy, not a lot can go wrong in respect to his development.
As said before, Liverpool’s youth is galore with talent. It is quite evident why Jurgen Klopp is keen to add to the Kirkby academics. Nurturing them and developing the chemistry from the very beginning is going to help the entire team in the latter stages. Getting accustomed to the German’s style at the early stages will ensure himself to be ready when called upon to represent the first team.
For a player with big ambitions, a move away from his parent club is crucial at this stage of his career. While doing that, it is important that he chooses the right destination, one that will see him reach his fullest potential. In that respect, Liverpool are by no means strangers in helping players realize their dreams. Many have come up the ranks themselves and gone on to make some remarkable achievements as in the cases of Gerrard, Fowler, Owen to name a few. An academy that could produce a Ballon d’Or winner, can sure produce a Mexican sensation.
Do you think Jurgen Klopp should go for the Mexican Wonderkid?
