Stevan Jovetic has emerged as a target for top-flight newbies Brighton & Hove Albion. The Premier League outfit has been pretty goal shy this season and manager Chris Hughton is trying to project their ambitious prospect by bringing Jovetic to the Falmer Stadium in January.
Jovetic moved to France in the summer only, but his poor form has unsettled his future. He was supposed to be a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who switched his allegiance to Paris Saint Germain in the summer.
He has failed to meet the demands there and the Seagulls want to provide him with a platform to revive his career. Despite having potential, the forward’s career hasn’t struck the right chords and he is yet to have a blistering moment in his playing career.
Monaco have gone frustrated with him and have listed him as one of the possible outcasts in the January transfer window. The 27-year-old cost the club as much as £10m but now, the French outfit are ready to part ways with him for half the price.
It could be a steal for a club like Brighton who don’t have sufficient funds to back their manager. But getting Jovetic would be a coup and if he is given a fair amount of chances, he could really be a game changer at the Falmer Stadium. He has previous experience in England before when he arrived at Manchester City following his stupendous rise in the ranks.
But his Man City career didn’t hit the right note and eventually, he left the club for Inter at the beginning of this year, which signalled an end to his City career. Sevilla are also expected to fight for the striker’s signing. The Spanish side has struggled heavily this season and want to reunite with the star.
Chris Hughton is likely to have a shoestring budget and signing Jovetic could send a positive message to the fans. The Supporters have been coming to the stadium to see some exciting football and Jovetic’s arrival would enlighten their hope of survival in the Premier League.
The Seagulls have been tipped for relegation by the bookies and Hughton is likely to go beyond the methods to defy the odds. There is enough room for improvement and Jovetic will surely be a step in the right direction.
Jovetic can be utilized from a number of positions but can his versatility keep Brighton afloat?
