Burnley are having a mixed time in the Premier League this season, having won three matches while drawing four of their first nine matches so far. The Clarets are currently standing in the ninth spot on the league table and will look for nothing less than a win when they face Newcastle United in their next match.
The Clarets have completely transformed their game this season after a disastrous last term that saw them end up at the 16th spot. Under the careful stewardship of Sean Dyche, Burnley defeated the likes of Chelsea and Everton this season and held Liverpool and Tottenham to draws. They are now on their way to face the Magpies in their own backyard and will look to get the maximum points from the match.
Burnley were beaten prolifically by Manchester City in their last match, losing 3-0. They are hoping to bounce back and will look to win their next match to escalate them higher up the table in the near future.
In their clash against Newcastle, the Clarets might line up in the following way.
Defence
The Burnley backline has been the biggest strength of their side this season so far, with the likes of Matthew Lowton, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee and Stephen Ward, playing out of their skins to keep the opposition at bay.
They will look to do the same against the Magpies, who are fresh from a win against Crystal Palace in their last match in the Premier League.
In absence of their first choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who has been ruled out with a major injury for the next four months, Nick Pope will once again have to take the responsibility to stand beneath the crossbars for Burnley.
Midfield
With players like Robbie Brady, Steven Defour, Jack Cork and Scott Arfield marshalling the midfield, the Clarets must be confident of bagging a good result from their next match. All the four have performed very well this season so far and it is expected that they will dish out another brilliant show against the Magpies.
Attack
With summer signing Chris Wood leading the line for the Clarets, the Newcastle defence will have to cautious about not letting the wily Newzealander into the final third and get the ball in the back of their net.
Jeff Hendrick is going to be the one to play alongside the ex-Leeds United marksman and help his side to bag the maximum points out of the match. This is how they might line up:
