Newcastle United have maintained their surge to the top half of the Premier League since getting back to the Premier League. Rafa Benitez’s side are currently in the eighth place and a win the next match would allow them to leapfrog Liverpool from the sixth place.
The Magpies are scheduled to visit Turf Moor to entertain Burnley, which could be the match of this week. Both the sides have stamped their authority with some professional and sharp display this season and a win in this match for either side would only cement their claim of grabbing a place in the upper half of the points table.
Newcastle started their season with two consecutive losses but they were very quick to rectify their mistakes and the credit must go to Benitez, who has worked wonders with this limited resources.
Burnley are known for their resolute defence and boring football but this season, Sean Dyche’s side have shown some promise with their crisp passing and attacking displays and this match will be a delight to watch.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Newcastle United Starting Lineup Vs Burnley
Defence
Rob Elliot kept his third clean sheets of this season against Crystal Palace and would be hoping to maintain it when they face the Clarets. The Eagles didn’t really test the Magpies keeper but Burnley are going to put him under a bit of pressure.
The Newcastle defence has worked very well throughout the season so far and the gaffer is unlikely to take any chance by tweaking his setup. Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejeune looked confident and will marshal the backline.
DeAndre Yedlin will cover the right side of the defence while Javier Manquillo will be on the opposite side.
Midfield
Mikel Merino didn’t start in the last match but the gaffer is expected to call him back to the first team. He has been one of the standout players this season and needs to put a very commendable performance in a bid to maintain their solid run.
Jonjo Shelvey is likely to keep his place in the middle of the pitch and needs to do all the running and the pressing in the midfield.
Attack
Christian Atsu looked ordinary in the last match but Benitez is expected to include him in the starting lineup. Matt Ritchie will be placed on the right wing. Ayoze Perez will try to kickstart the attack from the no.10 position.
Joselu will lead the proceedings. Here is how they might line up:
