Mesut Ozil has been in a contract standoff at Arsenal and the German playmaker might be ready to leave the Emirates for free in the next summer. He will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club in January and this has triggered interests among a lot of clubs.
Manchester United have been hot on the hells of the midfielder but according to a recent report, Barcelona are also lining up a move for him. The 29-year-old has blossomed in the Premier League but current conditions at the North London, which might push the German playmaker away from the Emirates, as soon as in January.
There have been rigorous talks between the player and the clubs but both parties have failed to reach a unanimous decision and Ozil, most likely, will allow his contract to run down. Lionel Messi has asked the club to prioritise the signing of Ozil, who hasn’t been in good touch. But his display against Everton once again showed the world why he is so adored at the Emirates Stadium.
Often criticized for his laidback attitude in games, Ozil is unique when it comes to his own game. The Arsenal no. 10 has a strong and enthusiastic vision of the game which other players cannot even imagine.
Every time he takes the ball, there is an excitement and he could find an incisive pass with utmost ease which is his brilliant quality. Barcelona had tried to bring Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool but failed in their attempt. They are expected to raid the club yet again in January, but Ozil could prove to be a much profitable and viable option.
The 29-year-old’s Real Madrid career was very sporadic but and successful and he can only enhance his game alongside a player called Lionel Messi. With his contract due to expire in the summer next year, he would cost a peanut in comparison to Coutinho’s skyrocket value.
His relation with Jose Mourinho has also made Manchester United favourites to sign him. The Red Devils are still looking a bit out of tempo in the attacking section and bringing Ozil would boost up their chances.
He has been an orchestrator at the Emirates and despite his struggle, this season, his place in the starting lineup has remained intact. Arsenal won’t be letting him off for free next summer and might be ready to do business in January, especially against a club, who is not a direct rival.
So is Ozi a good option for Barcelona?
