Tottenham are looking in very good form of late and are gradually getting into a good shape. The runner-ups from the last season in the Premier League are eyeing the supreme prize this time and will look to keep up the consistency they have found early this season.
The North London club, however, are having a few injury concerns to their squad, which might prove to be problematic in the long run for them. Given their packed schedule in both the domestic as well as European fronts, Spurs will need all their players to be up and running to make sure that they can go all the way this season.
One such player, Mousa Dembele, who has been injured for some time now, might be on his way to recovery. The Belgian midfielder is striving for fitness and is training on his own to make himself available for selection with a number of important games coming up for his side.
Spurs lost to West Ham in the Carabao Cup earlier this week. They will also be facing a major opponent, Manchester United, in their next match in the Premier League, before they welcome Real Madrid in the UCL and will be hoping to have Dembele back with them without much ado.
The player is reportedly not able to take the pressure of the rigorous first-team training and is currently training on his own, to gain match fitness. Dembele has already lost a significant part of the season owing to his injuries and will surely not want to miss any more time and get out on the pitch as soon as possible.
With his immense physical presence in the middle of the pitch, he can be a good partner for Eric Dier and give more stability to the midfield. The two, together, have proven to be one of the best pairs of enforcers in the Premier League and might be used in the future as well, given how fast Dembele can reach full fitness.
Mauricio Pochettino is well aware of the fact that he will need all his players fully fit in order to have his full squad before the season reaches its business end. Dembele’s fitness issues have been disappointing for him and he has expressed his concern about that as well.
He is hopeful that the Belgian international will be back on the pitch soon and help his side adding some mettle to their midfield. But do you think Dembele will be pushed into the first team this weekend?
