It has been a miserable season so far for Crystal Palace in the Premier League, who have lost eight out of their nine games. Their only win was a shocker, which came against Chelsea in their eighth match of the season at Selhurst Park. However, the Eagles once again returned to losing ways in their last match against Newcastle United on their away trip to St.James Park by 1-0.
The South London club have not been able to score more than two goals this season, both coming in their match against the defending champions. They have conceded a whopping 19 goals already, with their goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey alone counting for 17 out of them.
The Welsh international has made seven appearances so far this season after being tipped to start as their first choice custodian. However, it proved to be a disastrous decision and the gloves were handed over to their veteran shot-stopper Julian Speroni, who dished out a valiant performance in their win against Chelsea.
With a return looking unlikely for the player, the Eagles might look to offload him in the next transfer window. Despite his dismal performances beneath the crossbars for Crystal Palace, there might be a few clubs interested in taking him into their squad in January.
Here are three clubs who could be interested in his services:
Newcastle United
Though they have one of the best goalkeepers in Premier League at their disposal in the form of Robert Elliot, Newcastle United might look for another goalkeeper to be added to their side as a second choice. Given the experience that Hennessey has in the top flight with Crystal Palace, he might be a wise addition to the Tyneside club, who were promoted from the Championship in the last term.
Watford
The Hornets are also having a very good goalkeeper in Huerelho Gomes, who has performed exceptionally well in the Premier League this season. However, he is on the wrong side of the 30s and is not a long-term option for the club. So there Marco Silva might look to bring a new shot-stopper, and Hennessey is an option he should look at, in the next transfer window.
West Bromwich Albion
The Baggies might face a crisis in their goal, with both their first and second choice goalkeepers Ben Foster and Boaz Myhill standing in their mid 30’s. This might lead them to bring in a new goalkeeper in the form of Wayne Hennessey, in case the Eagles get rid of him in January. The Welsh international can fit into their side well but whether he can feature for them in the first team or not is debatable.
