The current Premier League season has been nothing less than disappointing for Everton. The Merseyside club succumbed to a series of defeats in the Premier League and currently find themselves in the bottom half of the table. This has taken a toll on their patience and the Merseyside club have parted ways with manager Ronald Koeman.
The club will continue playing under the stewardship of the manager of their youth side David Unsworth as long as the authority is not able to find anyone good enough to take up the position of the head coach. Whoever will take the responsibility of the club will have to ensure that the Toffees are able to claw their way back up the league table and has to reignite the spirit of winning among all the players, who are evidently demoralised with the whole situation.
One such manager, who might be the perfect replacement for the departed Dutchman at the Merseyside club, is Thomas Tuchel. The German mastermind is considered to be one of the best managers in Europe at the moment and is reportedly being eyed by Everton for the top job.
Tuchel has been in charge of a few clubs in the Bundesliga in the form of FSV Mainz and Borussia Dortmund, whom he managed with decent success and led them to new heights during his tenure. However, the 44-year-old manager was sacked by his last club Borussia Dortmund at the end of the last term even after leading them to the DFB Pokal trophy and was replaced by Peter Bosz.
Now, with the team in dire need of a top quality coach, the Merseyside club might make a move for Tuchel and bring him in as soon as possible. It will be a new challenge for him to manage a club in the Premier League, given the fact that the ex-German international has never managed any outfit outside the Bundesliga.
Reportedly, apart from the ex-Borussia Dortmund gaffer, the Toffees are also eyeing a number of top class managers to take charge of their team in the near future. Carlo Ancelotti and Sean Dyche have been recognised as the top targets to replace Koeman at Goodison Park and the name of Tuchel might be their best option.
The Merseyside club shelled out a lot of money during the summer to bring in reinforcements and revamp the side. Though the players have not been able to show their true class so far this season, the stewardship of someone like Tuchel might give them the impetus needed to turn their season around.
But can Everton lure Tuchel to the Merseyside?
